LITCHDON PATIENT SUPPORTING DIABETES UK

Mark Humfrey is a patient of Litchdon who is planning to do fund raising for Diabetes UK by swimming 22 miles (equivalent to channel swim) every week over a 12 week period. He will do this challenge at the North Devon Leisure Centre and if he succeeds he would have swam 16,896 lengths in total.  His target for fundraising will be £1689.00.

Mark has asked us to share his story because he is a type II diabetes patient and has also had past medical history of heart attacks. He is taking this opportunity to see how regular, sustained exercise can affect his diabetic condition.  He will monitor this by having blood tests taken before, during and after the 12 week period for HbA1c, cholesterol and lipid levels.  He will also weigh himself weekly and take other body measurements to see how things change.  He will keep a strict diet during the 12 weeks and will record food consumption.

He plans to start this challenge on 22 February 2019 and Litchdon will be supporting him and looking forward to monitoring the results during this period.

If you feel you would like to help him and this worthwhile cause by giving to Diabetes UK you can make a donation by visiting his Just Giving page at https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/mark-humfrey2.

We will let you all know how it all goes and wish him the very best of luck.
